Prerequisite: Admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program. Nursing Concepts I is an introductory course focusing on the study and practice of principles and skills basic to the nursing of all ages. The nursing process is introduced as the bases for nursing care. Human needs basic to all individuals will be identified with an emphasis on the nursing process as it is used to assist persons to meet basic needs they are unable to meet themselves. Principles of assessment and care as they relate to concepts of stress, pain, immobility, infection and inflammation, and pharmacology are also included. 8 lecture hours; 6 lab hours per week.
