Prerequisite or Corequisite: ELT 1103 Basic Electricity/Electronics. Both Allen-Bradley PLC-2 and Allen-Bradley SLC-500 systems in the laboratory are used to teach the student the basic concepts and programming skills necessary to maintain a working PLC system. Internal organization and system requirements are studied and compared to traditional relay-logic control. Trouble-shooting and maintenance procedures are considered. The study of different number systems and the basics of computer logic circuits are examined as well.
