The course is designed to acquaint the student with the historical roles of families n their child's development. The student will become familiar with the theories early childhood education is based upon and learn how to develop an effective program designed uniquely for children from birth to age 5. The student will also obtain knowledge of state and federal laws pertaining to the care and education of young children. The course content is based upon guidelines established by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition and covers functional areas 11, 12, and 13.
