2 hours credit. Prerequisite: A score at a predetermined level in reading, writing, and math on a diagnostic instrument selected by the department. This course will enable the student to weld aluminum and steel by the gas metal arc process. The student will study setup, operation, and maintenance of semi-automatic welding equipment as well as inert gases, joint design and electrode selection, as well as inner shield and submerged arc processes. Safety practices are emphasized.
