This course provides an overview of the foundations in radiography and the practitioner's role in the health care delivery system and the professional responsibilities of the radiographer. Ethics will be presented including its historical & philosophical basis as well as medical legal concepts, principles, and terminology. Basic concepts of patient care are presented, including consideration for the physical & psychological needs of the patient & family and patient education. Routine & emergency patient care procedures will be described, as well as infection control procedures utilizing standard precautions, patient assessment, and basic pharmacology. Content also includes an introduction to radiological technical concepts including basic concepts of image production, as well as photographic & geometric qualities of the recorded image, radiographic & fluoroscopic equipment. An introduction to radiation safety is also provided. Prerequisite: Admission to Program
