This course provides students with instruction in basic computer essentials, including computer hardware and software, file management, and data storage and retrieval. Students will also develop minimum levels of competency in the use of alphabet, number, and symbol keys. Basic formatting rules for letters, memos, reports, and tables will be covered as well as basic word processing concepts. Proofreading skills will be included. A minimum speed of 25 words per minute (with three errors or less) for three minutes on straight copy is required to successfully complete the course. This course is designed for students who are not majoring in an office occupations program. Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate - AAS, AGE, All Certificates General Education - Not Applicable
