This course focuses on the fundamental knowledge and skills necessary to begin to provide dental hygiene services for patients in the dental hygiene clinic. Concepts in treatment planning, assessment of the oral cavity for the clinical patient, preventive dentistry for the clinical patient, and debridement of hard and soft deposits in the oral cavity for the clinical patient, and evaluation of dental hygiene services will utilize information and skills learned in the previous semester. Along with building upon previously learned concepts, information concerning pain control, emergency carts/kits, oxygen administration, emergency drugs, allergic reactions, syncope, circulatory and respiratory diseases, epilepsy, diabetes, and drugrelated emergencies will also be covered. Offered: Spring Prerequisite: Successful completion of first year, Fall semester dental hygiene courses Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate -AAS, AGE, All Certificates General Education - Not Applicable
