This course is an introduction to advanced Emergency Medical Services. The roles and responsibilities of the paramedic and the ethical and legal aspects that influence practice are defined. Skills and principles learned in EMT 101 or acquired as an EMT-B are integrated and theory is introduced to prepare the student for an expanded scope of emergency care and responsibility. Emphasis is on pathophysiology, pharmacology, medication administration, advanced airway management and necessary adjuncts, patient assessment, and management of the trauma patient. Offered: Fall Prerequisites: Must hold a current license as an EMT-B or EMT-I. It is recommended that BIO 205 or BIO 211 be taken prior to or concurrent with EMT 111. Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate - AAS, AGE, All Certificates General Education - Not Applicable
