The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the study of geography as a social science by emphasizing the relevance of the basic concepts in geography to cultural and human concerns. A primary learning objective is the understanding of the impact on the natural environment from natural resources, economic activity, and cultural characteristics such as languages, religions, and demographic patterns. Students who received credit for Geography 201 (Cultural Geography) prior to Summer Term 2004 will not receive credit for Geography 100 (Human Geography).
