This work experience in machine tool operations is an intermediate experience for the student who has completed all the machine tool and supportive courses. It provides a student an opportunity to apply previously learned fundamentals and basic skills in an industrial setting. The student works under the general supervision of a College instructor and the direct supervision of an industry supervisor(s). Evaluation of the student's work will result from the combined observations of all supervisors. This work experience requires 80 hours or more of on-the-job activities. A student who has been employed in machine tool operations is to consult the program coordinator prior to enrolling for this course. If the coordinator determines that the student's previous employment experience makes it inappropriate to register for this course, the coordinator will identify an elective in lieu of this course.
