2 1.5 2.5 This course will provide an avenue of instruction for licensed practical nurses and LPN program graduates who wish to obtain an Associate Degree in Nursing. The course will be built on previous knowledge from the LPN's basic nursing program. The course will include theory on role transition, basic skills, intravenous therapy, and therapeutic communication. The LPNs entering the course have basic competencies, and the course will build on these competencies through laboratory practice and clinical practicum as well as include new skills required for successful transition to the Associate Degree Nursing program. The course will prepare the student for the role of RN as a provider of care, member of the discipline, and manager of care. It will include ethical/legal issues, cultural factors affecting practice, and the nursing process application. Offered: Summer Prerequisite: Licensed Practical Nurse or successful completion of an accredited approved practical nursing program with a grade of "C" or better in all nursing courses; successful completion of NUT 110, ENG 101, BIO 211, BIO 212, PSY 101 and PSY 265 with a grade of "C" or better. Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate -AAS General Education - Not Applicable
