4 6 6 This course builds on NAD 100 and focuses on the study and practice of concepts and skills basic to nursing. Universal needs basic to all individuals are identified. The nursing process is introduced and serves as the foundation for the development of critical thinking skills. The three roles of the nurse - Provider of Care, Manager of Care, and Member within the Discipline - are introduced. Communication, teaching/learning skills, legal standards and ethical principles are included. Pharmacology principles and concepts of major drug classifications will be integrated as appropriate to the units of study. Learning experiences are provided in the classroom and auto-tutorial lab, campus lab, and clinical settings. Satisfactory (S) performance in clinical and the nursing lab, and a minimum grade of "C" in theory, are required in order to pass the course. Offered: Fall Prerequisite: Admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program, successful completion of NAD 100 and/or in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant with successful completion of NUT 110 with a grade of "C" or better. Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate -AAS, AGE, All Certificates General Education - Not Applicable
