4 6 6 This course builds on NUP 100 and focuses on the study and practice of concepts and skills based on nursing. Universal needs basic to all individuals are identified. Developmental needs throughout the life span are discussed. The nursing process is introduced and serves as the foundation for the development of critical thinking skills. The three roles - Provider of Care, Manager of Care, and Member within the Discipline - are introduced. Communication, teaching/learning skills, and legal standards and ethical principles are included. Pharmacology principles and concepts of major drug classifications will be integrated as appropriate to the units of study. Learning experiences are provided in the classroom and auto-tutorial lab, nursing campus lab, and clinical settings. Satisfactory (S) performance in clinical and the nursing campus lab and a minimum grade of "C" in theory are required in order to pass the course. Offered: Fall, Summer Prerequisite: Admission to Practical Nursing Program, successful completion of NUP 100 and NUT 110 with a grade of "C" or better and/or in good standing as a Certified Nursing Assistant and successful completion of NUT 110 with a grade of "C" or better. Applicable toward graduation at CSC where program structure permits: Degree or Certificate -AAS, AGE, All Certificates General Education - Not Applicable
