RDG 088 - Phonics-Basic Reading

RDG 088 is for students who score 0-58 on the COMPASS Test and are reading below a fifth grade level. In addition to the COMPASS, students take a TABE Test, an individual phonemic test, and a sight word test to ensure their accurate placement in RDG 088. Emphasis is on phonemic awareness, phonics, sight words, vocabulary development, and basic comprehension. Writing and spelling skills are integrated with reading. The grades used are "S" (satisfactory) and "U" (unsatisfactory). This course may be repeated three times (four total) by students who need additional time to develop basic reading skills.
