3 Credits (3 Lectures) Principles and concepts of sociocultural anthropology and anthropological linguistics with illustrations from a variety of cultures around the world. Exploration of culture to include: concept; culture change and globalization; and sociocultural systems, subsistence, political organization, economies, marriage and family, kinship and descent, language, religion and arts. Examination of perspectives and issues concerning ethnicity, race and gender, and consideration of historical and potential contributions arising from societal diversity. Prerequisite: RDG094.
