3 Credits (3 Lectures) Presentation of the human body and its functions, the physiological changes caused by hyperinsulinemia and hyperglycemia, with specific emphasis on complications affecting the major organ systems, techniques for prevention including monitoring and testing of glycemic control, insulin delivery, and oral medications as well as presentation of gestational diabetes and carbohydrate counting. Prerequisites: NTR131; NTR132 or NTR 132B.
