Factors that affect gender relations, inequality and communication will be discussed, with special emphasis given to theoretical approaches, socialization, and power differentials. How gender is implicated in our social institutions such as the educational system, workplace, family, criminal justice system, and government will be explored. Additionally, how gender shapes more micro interactions and the relationship between gender in the macro setting of social institutions and micro setting of personal interactions will also be addressed. Topics will include: gender in education; gender and work; gender in intimate relationships; and gender, crime and justice.
