Focuses on the integration of knowledge and skills acquired in the first year of the nursing program as the student transitions from the practical nurse to the registered nurse role. Nursing curriculum expands on the concepts of nursing process, caring, holism and professionalism at the registered nurse level. Emphasis is on the development of competency in critical thinking and caring interventions toward individuals and their significant others. Clinical skills lab focuses on the development of higher-level intravenous medication and fluid therapy skills. Clinical practicum provides the students with an opportunity to provide holistic, individualized nursing care for complex medical-surgical and mentally ill clients. Fourth term of the nursing program, first term of the RN sequence. Prerequisite: completion of the first-year nursing program or PN license and other advanced placement requirements.
