This advanced practicum provides the EMT with opportunities in entry-level and advanced care with a fire department or ambulance provider. Under paramedic instructor and/or paramedic preceptor guidance, the student will synthesize and apply theories and skills learned throughout the class, to assist a paramedic. Emphasis will be placed upon team leading, critical thinking, prioritization, assessment, therapeutic communication, and life-saving interventions. Students must be able to perform physical tasks to complete course requirements. This course requires students to have completed or be concurrently enrolled in EMS 1025. Successful completion of this class, along with EMS 1025 , with a grade of C or higher will meet the requirement for entrance into the Century College Paramedic Program. This course requires Minnesota Human Services and National background studies with no restrictions; current State EMT certification; current AHA BLS Provider certification; required immunizations; and current healthcare insurance.
