This course presents the basics of advertising and sales promotion as elements of effective campaigns that stimulate demand, increase sales, and communicate the value of products, services, or ideas to the primary target market. Course assignments and activities provide the opportunity to explore the advertising industry, discuss campaigns, advertisements, and promotional pieces, and analyze how advertising and sales promotion can best be used to reach the target audience. In addition, the course covers how advertising and sales promotion are planned, created, executed, and used to build a brand and communicate value to the target audience. Prerequisite: None Recommendation: Course placement into college-level English and Reading OR completion of ENGL 0950 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of RDNG 0940 with a grade of C or higher and qualifying English Placement Exam OR completion of RDNG 0950 with a grade of C or higher and ENGL 0090 with a grade of C or higher OR completion of ESOL 0051 with a grade of C or higher and ESOL 0052 with a grade of C or higher.
