Focuses on helping native speakers of Spanish to develop reading, writing, and grammar skills in their native language, and to appreciate the depth and diversity of Hispanic culture in the United States and abroad. Emphasizes spelling, accents, vocabulary, punctuation, verb morphology and sentence grammar of standard Spanish, facilitated by readings, dictation and composition. Presents all classroom interaction (both by intructor and students) in Spanish. SPN121: Native Spanish speaker. No previous college coursework in Spanish is required. However, students are expected to have had some contact with the written language; SPN122: SPN121 or consent of instructor; SPN123: SPN122 or consent of instructor. Off ered as needed.
