Introduction to the field of early intervention and the role of the Early Intervention Associate. Includes units covering the background and current status of the field, an overview of the characteristics of normal versus at-risk and special needs population of infants and toddlers, and theoretical models and strategies of early intervention, including Individualized Family Service (IFS) planning and team building. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Grade of C or better in English 101, or Consent of Department Chairperson. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
