General principles and specific applications of operating system on various computers. An overview. A theoretical and practical framework for the study of controlling software. The concepts of interrupt handling, multi programming, multi processing, scheduling and query techniques, and access and storage methods will be clarified through readings and discussions. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Consent of Department Chairperson. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
