This course is one of the requirements of the Teacher's Assistant certificate program. It is designed to provide an introduction to the rules and duties, the responsibilities and expectations of the teacher's assistant in the Chicago Public Schools (CPS). This should include an orientation to the profession of teaching; the role of the teacher and the teacher's assistant; current trends and problems in education, particularly in the CPS. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. Prerequisite: Eligibility for English 01 and Math 121 or Consent of Department Chairperson. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
