Empirical survey of methods of human manipulation; analysis of commercial mass persuasion techniques used in advertising, on police and military methods of thought reform (brainwashing) as practiced in Eastern European and Asian countries; methods of psychological warfare in the Cold War and Vietnam. Writing assignments, as appropriate to the discipline, are part of the course. 150 minutes per week. 3 credit hours.
