Prerequisite: A score of 16 on the Reading portion of the Enhanced ACT or REA 1013 with a grade of "C"or better. A combined lecture and laboratory course for science majors that reinforces the concepts in 1133 General Biology I, while emphasizing the diversity of life. Topics covered include adaptation by natural selection, classification, ecology, detailed consideration of each group of organisms and viruses, study of animals and plants including their basic anatomy and physiology. Labs associated with this course contain experiments and exercises that reinforce the principles introduced in lecture classes. OPTION: Special sections of this course emphasize field study and must be taken concurrently with sections identified as an "F" section, forexample, 1141-of, 1141-1F, etc. Three lecture hours and 2 laboratory hours per week.
