6 hours credit (10 hours lecture/lab 2 hours project Prerequisites None required but helpful to have A+ Certification and Microsoft Office skills Cisco II is the second semester of a two semester course in which students will learn basic technological literacy; gain an awareness of IT careers, learn how to design, install, and maintain internetworks and prepare for access to well-paying, learning-oriented jobs. This course prepares students to pass the computer industry certification exams leading to the Network+ and Cisco Certified Networking Associate credentials. Content: Review of 1st Semester, LAN switching, VLANs, LAN Design, IGRP, Access Lists, VLANs, WANs, WAN Design; PPP; ISDN; Frame Relay; all CCNA Exam-related learning objectives. Lab Skills: Increasingly sophisticated router configuration (IGRP, Access Lists, IPX); switch configuration; network troubleshooting skills. Other Skills: maintaining engineering journal; cable management techniques working in engineering teams, self and project management.
