This course is part of a series of courses which prepares the student to provide pre-hospital care to ill or injured individuals in the capacity of a paramedic. This course builds on the basic trauma course through expanded study of the pathophysiology of mechanisms of injury and the acute effects of altered hemodynamic states that lead to varying shock states in the traumatized patient. Topics include trauma systems, mechanism of injury, hemorrhage, shock, burns, thoracic trauma, and managing the multi-trauma patient. Prerequisites: EMSP 1500, EMT-Basic Certification, CPR Certification
