An introductory one-semester course designed for liberal arts and pre-health science students. Topics covered are phase changes, acid-base concepts and use of pH, gas laws, nuclear chemistry, carbon compound families and typical reactions and macromolecules of biological importance, such as carbohydrates, lipids and proteins and their metabolism. Lecture - 3 hours/week. Lab - 3 hours/week.
