This course covers the operation and testing of mixing consoles used for both live sound and studio recording applications. Students in this course use block diagrams and electronic test equipment to check signal flow and verify proper console operation. Console interface with tape machines and effects processors through patch bays are studied and constructed. There is an emphasis on digital mixers (Yamaha O2R and M7CL) and the virtual mixers used in computer recording.
