This course will introduce concepts of hospital record maintenance, history taking, animal restraint, animal husbandry, syringe/needle identification and handling, and venipuncture procedures. Techniques emphasized will include initial physical examination, bathing, grooming, nail trimming, dermatological examination, applications of medications or treatments of eyes, ears, and skin, injection techniques, and venipuncture. This course will also introduce concepts of the necessary care of kennel animals. Sanitation of animal facilities, regulations that affect animal care, and safety in the veterinary workplace will be covered.
