CREDIT: 3 This is an introduction to the chemistry of carbon containing compounds. The physical and chemical properties of organic compounds will be examined. The emphasis will include a systematic study of nomenclature, molecular structure, properties, bonding, reactivity, stereoisomerism and conformational analysis for aliphatic compounds. Included in the course will be practical applications, problem solving, and attention to historical and recent developments in interpretation of structure and reaction mechanisms. PREREQUISITE: CHEM 1020
