Credits: 2 This is a web course that introduces the student to the profession of physical therapy and the concepts of the total patient. Current issues in health care that impact physical therapy are investigated. It provides information about the role of the physical therapist assistant in terms of professional, legal and ethical standards. It also provides an introduction to the concepts of disability, cultural diversity and ethical decisionmaking. Part of this class requires the student to complete 12 hours of observation in a physical therapy setting under the supervision of a registered PT or PTA. This experience will be documented and satisfy one of the course requirements as well as serving as one of the admissions criteria. Open to all students.
