Credits: 4 This course introduces the student to basic skills necessary for safe care of the patient and teaches the theory and techniques of basic patient care procedures. Included are: basic assessment skills, body mechanics, patient positioning, draping, bed mobility, transfers, gait training with assistive devices, wheelchair skills, functional training, ADL training, environmental/architectural barrier identification and modification, bandaging, infection control and asepsis and ROM exercise.
