A continuation of HSDH 1241 including the use of various periodontal assessment tools in addition to the different types of Gracey curettes and application of advanced instrumentation techniques, ultrasonic instrumentation, phases of periodontal therapy including treatment planning and principles of scaling and root planning principles of periodontal surgery as well as the use of chemotherapeutics, and the role of occlusion. Also includes the immunologic aspects and the systemic manifestations of periodontal disease and the recognition of treatment of periodontal emergencies. Permission of Program Director required.
