This course introduces students to one of the most biological diverse ecosystems in the Midwest. It will focus on the interaction of plants and animals with unique Ozark natural communities such as oak-hickory forests, glades, bluffs, caves, springs, and streams. Management and land use practices affecting this ecosystem will be reviewed. An optional 1-2 week field experience course (BIO:149) is available to students who successfully complete this lecture course. Prerequisite: Reading Proficiency.
