A study of the mechanics of liquids, particularly as pertains to water flow, hydrants, pumps, standpipes, hoses, nozzles, sprinkler systems as adapted to fire fighting practices. This involves interpretation of readings from various kinds of manometers, pressure gauges, and hydrostatic devices. Fluids in motion, head calculations, pumping problems, friction losses, cavitation, velocity of flow, use of pitot and venturi meters, are studied. Also the problems of supplying fire service pumpers and efficiently using them is studied. Prerequisite: MTH:124 and Reading Proficiency.
