This is an introductory course to basic nursing concepts. The constructs that are woven throughout this course are stress and adaptation, caring and the eight core competencies of the associate degree nurse: professional behavior, communication, assessment, clinical decision making, caring interventions, teaching and learning, collaboration, and managing care. Clinical opportunities are designed to facilitate application of theoretical concepts through care of diverse populations in a variety of settings across the health care continuum. Track I Prerequisites: Admission to the Nursing Program, PSYC 120, BIOL 252. Corequisites: HLTH 118, BIOL 258. Semester offered: Fall. Track II Prerequisites: Admission to Track II Nursing. PSYC 120, BIOL 252, BIOL 253, BIOL 224, PSYC 230, ENGL 111, ENGL 218 OR 211, HLTH 118 and a three credit hour elective 110 or above. Semester offered: Fall. Track III: Not available
