This course prepares students with skills required to care for the sick and infirm under the supervision of an RN (Registered Nurse), LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse), or other health professional in nursing homes, hospitals, home care agencies, and skilled care facilities. Students are introduced to the nursing process: Assessment, Planning, Implementation, and Evaluation, which incorporates beginning critical thinking skills necessary to continue education in nursing and allied health fields. The course classroom, college skills lab, and clinical experience in local health care facilities meet the requirements of the Omnibus Reconciliation Act of 1987 (OBRA) and qualify individuals to take the State Certification Examination upon completion in accordance with this law. Class has hybrid WebCT component Semester offered: Fall, Spring.
