An introduction to the ancient art of casting and wax-model making that focuses on the tools, equipment, materials and processes traditionally used in creating forms in silver. The course includes demonstrations on designing and creating wax models for the casting process and many techniques of vacuum and direct-casting methods. Emphasis is on casting and experimenting with design in wax and cast forms. Prerequisite: ARTS 114L. Offered: Occasionally.
