This course is designed for students who wish to develop skills learned at the beginning and intermediate levels in preparation for application to an undergraduate university program or gallery representation. The course focuses on the preparation of a coherent body of work and the development of an individual approach and aesthetic, with emphasis on self-expression and self-motivation. Students are taught how to prepare a portfolio, how to write a resume and how to secure recommendations. Students will develop the ability to speak and write articulately about their work and personal direction as well as to professionally critique the work of others. Students are guided in identifying their special areas of skill and competency and in the process of critical self-evaluation. Prerequisite: ARTS 217L or permission. Offered: Occasionally
