This course presents an introduction to care and management of art collections. The specific types of art covered in this introductory course will be contemporary art and ethnographic artifacts. Students learn principles of museum collections management and registration, object cataloging, collections security, ethics, storage and handling methods, storage materials, standards governing access to collections, environmental conditions, object conservation and digitization of museum collections.
