The course provides an overview of fire protection, career opportunities in this and related fields, the philosophy and history of fire-protection services, the fire department as part of local government, laws and regulations affecting the fire service, fire-service nomenclature, specific fire-protection functions, basic fire chemistry and physics, an introduction to fire-protection systems and an introduction to fire-fighting strategies and tactics.
