In this course, students receive credit for learning basic English as a Second Language tutoring techniques. This course is taken in conjunction with the official ProLiteracy America training program, which provides an introduction to the methods and materials for teaching English to speakers of other languages. Participants will learn to assess the English speaking and comprehension skills of non-native speakers and to use strategies to improve these skills. Practicum experience may be taken for credit by registering for HUDV 170, Volunteer Service. Graded as Pass/Fail. Permission required. Offered: Occasionally.
