This course is an introduction to the current basic concepts of pharmacology and their application to safe client care. The principles of pharmacotherapeutics, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and core drug knowledge are presented. The role and responsibilities of the professional nurse in the safe and effective management of drug therapy are discussed. The standards and regulations applied to drug therapy are reviewed. Safe administration or medications and the associated practices are defined. Prerequisites: Permission. Corequisites: NURS 111 and NURS 111L. Offered: Fall and Spring.
