An introduction to the counseling professions, focusing on mental-health counseling, social work and psychology. The history, philosophy and areas of practice for each profession are explored. Special emphasis is placed on the influence of personal and professional values on one's development as a service provider. Experiential activities allow students to practice basic counseling techniques. Prerequisite: ENGL 109. Offered: Fall.
