This is the third of four (4) semester courses designed to provide students with classroom and laboratory experience in current and emerging networking technology that will empower them to enter employment and/or further education and training in the computer networking field. A task analysis of current industry standards and occupational analysis was used to develop the content standards. The course focuses on advanced IP addressing techniques with Variable Length Subnet Masking (VLSM) and Classless Interdomain Routing (CIDR), Intermediate routing protocols (Rip v2, single-area OSPF and EIGRP), command line interface configuration switches, Ethernet switching, Virtual LANs (VLANs), Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) and VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP). Prerequisite: CS 1104.
