(Prerequisite: ALLI 2503 Cardiopulmonary Anatomy and Physiology and acceptance into the program.) This course is designed to integrate the theory and application of basic respiratory care procedures and equipment. It will also enable the student to safely and competently administer therapy to patients requiring respiratory care in a professional manner. The information gained in this course will provide a foundation, which is essential for the more advanced levels of respiratory care. Topics covered will include therapeutic gas delivery, humidity and aerosol systems, high and low-flow oxygen systems, O2 analysis, hyperinflation therapies, CPT, artificial airways, and infection control. (Only offered in the spring).
