(Prerequisite: Acceptance in the Practical Nursing Program; concurrent enrollment in NURS 1114 Basic Nursing Principles and Skills Lab, NURS 1117 Basic Nursing Principles and Skills Lab I, or NURS 1127 Basic Nursing Principles and Skills Lab II) This course introduces basic concepts of mental health and nursing care of the mentally ill. Defense mechanisms, mental disorders, and substance abuse are discussed. Resources and rehabilitation are stressed.
