(Prerequisite: None) This course will acquaint the student with different types of insurance, including Unemployment Compensation, Disability, Workers Compensation or Industrial Insurance, federal Medicare, state Medicaid, Medicare-Medicaid, group plans such as Blue Cross and Blue Shield, and Civilian Health and Medical Program of the Uniformed Services (CHAMPUS). Practical approach to insurance billing; basic medical and insurance abbreviations, and terminology will be presented.
